Valve dropped that Steam Machine Companion Cube case down the legal incinerator after its makers neglected to get their permission
Steam Machine stock may be in short supply, but hey, at least it hasn’t been taken off sale and scoured from the Internet, never to be seen again. That’s just the fate of Dbrand’s unofficial Steam Machine Companion Cube case, a smartly made (if overpriced and kind of pointless) Portal-themed accessory that it turns out was so unofficial, Dbrand never actually had permission from Valve to sell it. So, now they aren’t, and have issued refunds to anyone who ordered one.

Company that made a Steam Machine wrap based on Valve intellectual property without asking forced to take it down
Dbrand, a company known for making phone cases and vinyl wraps for electronic devices, will not be shipping the Companion Cube wrap it announced for the Steam Machine. Concept art for the project was initially shared on social media shortly after the Steam Machine unveiling in November last year, but pre-orders didn't actually go live until 22nd June. Read more

Xbox is reportedly considering closing State of Decay developer Undead Labs
Undead Labs, the team behind the State of Decay series, was revealed to be among the Microsoft-owned studios under threat of closure. Undead Labs is currently working on survival shooter and management sim State of Decay 3, and the game was part of the Xbox Showcase earlier this month. Read more

"We were only three votes away": Stop Killing Games-backed California bill to keep online games playable fails to win over senate committee
A Californian bill aiming to force publishers shutting down servers for online games to provide a version of the game players can keep on playing independently of said servers or issue full refunds has failed to pass a committee vote in the state's senate. That means the bill's march through the legislature, which has been backed by the wider Stop Killing Games campaign, has come to a relative standstill for now.
