  • Subnautica 2 mod makes creatures killable, despite its devs' desire to convince players to "use non-violent and more creative solutions"

Subnautica 2 is deliberately designed to nudge you away from seeking violent solutions to your 'oh lordy there's a giant leviathan chasing me' problems, with devs Unknown Worlds having been clear that strong feelings have propelled them down that path. Yet, as they've also acknowledged, not every Sub 2 player will agree: cue a mod that makes creatures killable quickly springing up now the survival game's out in early access.

  • University of Arizona students boo Eric Schmidt’s AI cheerleading during commencement

Former Google CEO Eric Schmidt delivered the commencement address at the University of Arizona on Friday. And, as his speech veered into talk of AI, he was repeatedly drowned out by boos. AI is already a contentious topic, and it's not surprising that those about to enter a ravaged job market feel particularly negative about […]

  • As AI supply disruptions grip the market, almost two thirds of PC owners have no plans to upgrade

Parroted as the end-all, be-all of modern living, AI has proved to be more of a nuisance to everyone and, ironically, has hit tech enthusiasts the hardest. Instead of bettering their day-to-day, AI is only helping to surge prices and make them unavailable to the general populace while big-name corporations rake in the surplus and enjoy the shortage.

And that leaves you, the average Joe, unable to go in and buy new components or bring your machine up to snuff since some corporation out there (cough, OpenAI, cough) said "pretty please" to all the RAM manufacturers, and all of them somehow jumped ship and started only selling to them (who weren't actually buying them, just promising that they would, maybe).

Now, according to Tom's Hardware, 60 percent of PC owners have no plans to upgrade over the next two years. That is the result of a survey of 1,500 Tom's Hardware readers done over the last couple of weeks, thus reflecting the current state of PC enthusiasm or lack thereof.

What's even more interesting is just how few people are planning to actually kit out their PC with some shiny new tech within

  • Forza Horizon 6’s early access rakes in $140 million in its first weekend

We're all a little opposed to paying more to play a game early, i.e., on the date when it was actually supposed to come out. But it seems a lot of us are much less insistent on opposition, as Forza Horizon 6's early access is now the franchise's most-played game, not to mention one of the most profitable launches in gaming history.

In just two or so days of early access, Forza Horizon 6 has brought in over $140 million for Microsoft and developer Playground Games (via Insider Gaming), even though it's only available to players who forked over $120 a pop.

We wrote on Friday how, despite being locked behind this early access program, Forza Horizon 6 is nevertheless the most-played game in the franchise, peaking at 170,000 concurrent players (a number that has since grown to over 181,000), which is more than double Horizon 5's full release.

Last week, Forza Horizon 6 also became the best-reviewed game of 2026 with a 92 average score on Metacritic, putting it well above heavy hitters like Resident Evil Requiem and Pragmata, to name just a couple.

However, fans don't seem to agree that much with criti
