Klongthom Center fire under control, building partly collapsed
The well-known Klongthom Center of tools, electronic devices, car audio systems and accessories, toys, models and home appliances started to collapse after hours of burning on Friday night. Fire was put under control afterwards.

NASA named a team from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) as the first prize winner for Phase 2 of the agency’s LunaRecycle Challenge, which focused on developing solutions for reducing waste during missions to the Moon or deep space by recycling common materials, like fabrics, plastics, foam, and metals. UPDATE 3.30PM BST: Performance perfectionist Digital Foundry has scrutinised the latest GTA 6 trailer (which can be downloaded for a closer, purer appraisal) and said that on this evidence it looks like GTA 6 is running at 1440p natively on PS5 and maintains "a relatively stable and well-paced 30 FPS output with only very occasional single frame drops". However, the downloadable video being "a 30 FPS asset" means there could be more unseen frame drops, apparently. Read more
The era of generative AI has kindled an era of generative AI witchhunts. It's routine right now for videogame developers to fend off accusations of using the technology, even when they are full-throated in their disapproval of ChatGPT, Claude and their ilk. Recent examples include Sandustry, the 2D factory builder from Hooded Horse with strangely haunting physics, and the just-announced Humankind 2, whose creators Amplitude have rushed to assure players that their announcement trailer is genuine live action film.
The conversation reflects a shifting idea of what AI-generated imagery 'looks like' – shifting because, strictly speaking, AI-generated imagery has no fixed style or quality. It's derived from whatever data the model is 'fed'. The confusion is exacerbated by the fact that the technology is changing, with new or updated buzzwordy tools being added to the pile. Established hallmarks of generated imagery go out of date fast. Meanwhile, generative AI's advocates muddy the waters, conflating tools and framing their capabilities in ludicrously open-ended, investor-baiting terms. Still, some responsibility falls on regular users who've become accustomed to chucking around claims of "AI slop". Read more
